This allows us to generate actionable recommendations based on knowledge. You receive these recommendations in natural language because our software interfaces are equipped with chatbots, among other features.

Algorithms have been an integral part of our daily business operations since the founding of INFORM. We use algorithms in two ways. First, algorithms are part of one of the oldest AI methods: Operations research, also known as mathematical optimization. With this method, we translate the reality of complex processes into a mathematical model. Then, algorithms calculate an optimal result based on that model and a defined objective. (More on this under "O is for OR.") Second, whether it’s machine learning or neural networks, we use algorithms to identify meaningful, useful correlations in large data sets. These insights feed into our optimization. To truly optimize processes, you need to understand what’s happening in real operations—day by day, hour by hour, minute by minute. Algorithms derive forecasts from this data and, based on those forecasts and mathematical optimization, make smart decisions.
